The ICS-9 Laser Interlock® Controller is the successor to the highly successful ICS-6, directly replacing it.

The ICS-9 is a device that can control laser interlocks, magnetic door locks, LED warning signs, and laser shutters. It turns on the laser by controlling the laser safety input. It includes feedback monitoring as well as fault detection. It can be linked to Access Control and Fire Detection Systems, and it has an Override feature that allows controlled access through interlocked doors while also accepting emergency stop inputs. The override is activated by either a pushbutton on the inside of a laser-controlled area or a keypad.

The ICS-9 has a full start-to-finish dual channel architecture and fault detection, allowing it to meet the most recent safety standards to a much higher level than single channel systems. It has a straightforward, user-friendly control panel and can be linked directly to nine interlocks (or groups of interlocks). The ICS-9 standard has 9 volt-free interlock operator output contacts that can be used for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Switching laser power
  • Controlling beam shutters
  • Operating the laser’s interlock input
  • Controlling door locks
NRTL CERTIFIED

The ICS-9 has NRTL certification and is thus legal for use throughout the United States.

OSHA’s Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) Program certifies private sector organizations to ensure that certain products meet the requirements of both construction and general industry OSHA electrical standards.

The ICS-9 has been tested by TÜV SÜD to IEC 61010-1 Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use. Part 1 General requirements. It also fulfils the requirements of CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1:2012, UL 61010-1:2012 and EN 61010-1:2010.

REMOTE MONITORING

The ICS-9 is designed to pair with the ICS-Buddy, a portable laser interlock controller. The ICS-Buddy can remotely mimic the function of the ICS-9.

FLEXIBLE EXPANDABLE SYSTEM

It is intended to meet EN ISO 13849-1 PLe (performance level ‘e’).

The standard ICS-9 has a deep back box, allowing contactors to be added to provide interlocked 32A single and three phase mains supplies.

The ICS-9 can be used as a primary or secondary unit when connected to other Lasermet Interlock® controllers.

The ICS-9 has an expansion socket and can accommodate up to three expansion cards that are automatically tested.

TYPICAL INTERLOCK® CONFIGURATION

The ICS-9 standard has 9 interlock outputs rated at 8A at 110/250VAC/50VDC. A contactor upgrade adds four interlock mains outputs rated at 32A at 415VAC.

The maximum output current when using the internal power supply is 1A. An additional Power Supply boosts current output.

The ICS-9 can be connected to an infinite number of interlock switches. Monitoring is available for four switches or switch groups. Similarly, an infinite number of Emergency Stops can be linked to and integrated into a Fire Alarm or Access Control System.
