The LS-30 Series of shutters can be operated in both vertical and horizontal positions, giving you more mounting options to better suit your needs than the LS-20 Series.
Unlike the LS-20 shutters, which can only tilt 10 degrees, the LS-30 shutters can tilt up to 90 degrees.
Its force-disconnect proof contacts and spring-loaded blade make it a component of a high-integrity safety system. When the shutter is closed, the incoming laser beam is deflected onto an internal beam dump, where its energy is converted to heat and dissipated within the shutter’s aluminum casing. The laser beam continuously travels through the shutter when it is open.
Four options are available in the LS-30 Series:
A ‘SIL3’ version is available which, when correctly wired to a Lasermet Interlock® Control System, can provide a safety Interlock®
which meets Safety Integrity Level 3 to IEC 61508-1 and Performance Level ‘e’ to EN 13849-1.
The LS-30 also comes in an OEM version, designed to be integrated into user equipment to create a custom laser product with built-in laser shutters.
Standard operation is by means of the ‘Open’ and ‘Close’ buttons on top of the shutter case, remote switching is also possible. Alternatively the shutter can be set to open as soon as power is applied. In all cases the shutter will close when power is removed.
BEAM SHUTTER FOR HIGH POWER LASERS
The maximum average power for use with the internal beam dump is 20 W. However for higher powers the beam dump can be easily removed by unscrewing it from the side of the shutter case. Beam tubes can be fitted and the beam can be directed to a remote beam dump. This allows the shutter to be used for much higher powers, even for multi-kilowatt lasers.
SHUTTER BLADE OPTIONS
The shutter blade is made of stainless steel which is sufficient for most applications. However, ceramic or mirror blades can be factory fitted to the blade if required. An external beam dump option is also available.
